I was obliged to purchase a new Kindle as it would appear recently purchased books would not deliver to my more than ten year old Kindle any more.
I found the new Kindle to be a bit slippery and likely to be dropped from my 82 yo. hands. I have over come this by purchasing a beautiful cover for it.
I admit to being all at war with the touch screen and finding my way around it, for instance the print size is one click too small and I cannot find the means to adjust it yet.
In other respects I am very pleased with my purchase and incidentally the last two books purchased were the best I have ever read, this may account, the inability to put them down, for the very short life of the battery. I have owned the new Kindle for roughly two weeks and have had to charge the battery twice already. Maybe the Kindle light may also contribute to to this. I also found it very difficult to insert the charging lead supplied, other leads I own do not work properly in that the charging light is white and not brown and stays white permanently IE, no green light to indicate fully charged state. The indicator revealed in the open screen shows the battery to be fully charged but just checking this took two percent from full!
I may consult Amazon for advice, I have only done this once before but fount their service to first class.

The all new Kindle 6″ 2019 is an awesome little gadget with an even more awesome price tag!

I’m new to the Kindle life. This model is my very first. I bought the device a few weeks ago now, and have been thoroughly enjoying the whole experience.

I was initially drawn to this model due to its affordability. Being a poor, full time University student, I’m unable to afford the higher end models. However, this particular model does everything I want and need it to, all for a great price!

Here are my pros and cons from my experience so far. Cons first:

*I wish the outside casing material didn’t have such a smooth, slippery and “papery” feel to it. It would be much easier to hold if the material had a silicone feel for better grip.
I assume that because this model has only been newly released, there aren’t many cases/skins available for it yet.

*Unlike the new Paperwhite, this model isn’t waterproof.

*Sometimes the operating system tends to be a little slow at times. Which can be a little frustrating.

*The sensitivity of the touch screen could be a bit more sensitive. I guess I’m more used to the touch screen sensitivity of my Samsung Galaxy S9 plus. But sometimes with the Kindle, I have to press a bit harder and longer.

*The way the screen refreshes could be a lot better. This is definitely my main complaint. I know that Kindles only use a very basic and simple operating system. But, I don’t like how the text and images turn black for a moment before displaying the content. It makes it feel a bit “cheap”, I guess.

    And now for the pros.

Some of my favourite features, (most of which are available on all Kindles, I think) are:

*The new built-in front light makes reading your Kindle in any kind of light very easy. It’s so much better for our eyes.

*If you don’t know the definition of a word in your book, you can simply hold your finger down on that particular word to highlight it, and the Kindle will display a little pop-up box with the definition. This makes it so much easier and faster than having to leave your book and search for the definition elsewhere. You can simply get the definition very quickly, then continue your reading.

*You can turn on a feature that subtly underlines popular sentences, paragraphs, quotes etc that many other people have highlighted when reading the book. I find this pretty cool.

*You can easily write and save any notes you may want to keep anywhere in the book. You can access these notes and highlights in your Kindle library.

*Having access the Goodreads app on the Kindle is also great. You can also sync your Kindle and Goodreads accounts, so everything stays up to date.

*The battery life is amazing! A single charge lasts weeks, not days!

*The reading settings are fantastic and plentiful. You can fully customise the font type, font size and much, much more.

Overall, (especially for the low price), the all new Kindle 6″ 2019 is a great little device. It does everything it’s supposed to do, does everything I want it to do, and most of all allows me to escape into the magical world of reading anywhere at any time, all on a perfectly sized device that fits in the palm of my hand!

I would definitely recommend this product, especially for those new to Kindle reading.

I had a late diagnosis of Attention-deficit disorder but all signs showed I was a “space-cadet” since I was a kid. I struggled with reading, often getting lost on a page. Those of you genuinely have the same symptoms as mines, you’d know that you’d be better off reading with physical books and not digital devices. As ebooks will replace printed versions in a decade, a distraction-free and minimalistic eReader like the classic Kindle devices would suit you.

The characters per line and font-size are excellent enough to prevent your eyes from jumping on the page. You’re reading in chunks, which is ideal, especially if you deal with those ADHD boom and bust moments. It’s helpful if you set the page number in terms of percentage completed to keep you motivated. These features will probably be common to all Kindle’s classic devices, but I got a Kindle (2019) 10th generation for myself. The bottom line is if you have ADD/ADHD, I’d choose an eReader instead of a tablet.

I’m thrilled with the built-in light as I find the old generations as dull without one. It doesn’t hurt my eyes compared to staring at a computer, tablet or mobile screens. It could do better with tap gestures when flipping pages, distinguishing a bookmark tap from accessing settings or navigation menus, and adjusting the length of highlighted text.

Disclaimer: The device itself will not address your ADD/ADHD issues. You need to have strategies to improve your reading comprehension skills to get its full advantage. Consult your ADHD coach, counsellor or doctor.

Kindles are awesome, I have three. One is an original that did not have a back light, and is still going extremely well after nearly 10 years. I have a white kindle that was a gift to me about 4 years ago, and has been dropped and even though it has two small holes in the screen it is still working and working well. Unfortunately, the latest kindle that I bought (on special) and is supposed to be one of the latest of the backlight ones, has a very bad touch screen that only works when it feels like it, and often has a hissy fit and suddenly turns pages by itself, and usually multiple pages. I think I may have a faulty one as my others and my friends who also have Kindles never complain and have only great reviews of them.
